Following last year’s Annual Outing which took place at the end of June 2023, rather than the first Wednesday in July, it was decided to do the same this year. This was primarily because several ladies attend a Women’s Probus Group which also meets on the first Wednesday of the month but, during the morning.
This year we must thank Janet M for organising a trip to Renishaw to admire the beautiful gardens, which were looking very colourful and resplendent. The group was really blessed too with the day being very sunny with near blue skies. It was actually a little on the hot side but shade was available around the gardens if needed. It was one of those very rare real summer days when a sunhat was called for! Travelling in members own cars, most of us had met up in the café for a coffee before wandering off to admire the grounds. Tables had been booked for lunch so we were able to reconvene then before either heading for home or taking another look around.
The Sitwell Museum was open to be able to learn a little more about the history of Renishaw which is still lived in by members of the Sitwell family. So, a very enjoyable day out was had by all.
As in previous years, the group does not meet in August but we have agreed to run the Church Coffee Morning on Saturday 3 August in the Parish Room. It would be wonderful then if we could have any offers for baking cakes, scones etc for the day. Helpers too would be a bonus.
Our next meeting will take place on Wednesday 4 September at 7pm when Anna-Louise Pickering will be making a return visit to give us a talk on ‘Giant Pandas and Sleeping Dragons’. It would be great to see all members, families, and friends there as well as any menfolk. Anna-Louise is a really interesting speaker who is carrying on the work of her late mother, the renowned environmentalist Pollyanna Pickering. So please put the date in your diary.
If you require any more details please speak to Trish, Marilyn J., or myself.
