Newbold Women’s Group March 2014

NEWBOLD WOMAN’S GROUP

Ash Wednesday was the date for the A.G.M. and the meeting was turned around with refreshments of cheese and wine served at 7.30pm and the business commencing at 8pm, once those who had attended the Ashing Service had joined us.

Ruth welcomed 27 members and gave apologies for those unable to attend.  Beryl Malcolm kindly stood in as secretary for Jean Lee.  Prayers were said, and two long standing members, Wendy Halsall and Ann Czerwionka, were especially remembered, as they are at present unwell.

The minutes of the last A.G.M. had been circulated and were approved as correct.  Pat Law gave the Treasurer’s Report and members were delighted to see from her balance sheet that the club is financially healthy.  The subs remain at £7 year and £1 on the door for a raffle ticket at each meeting.  It was agreed to pay £100 for the year’s use of the parish room.

Members had written their favourite charity on voting slips and the one drawn was for ‘Sense’ – which helps deaf, dumb and blind children.  Money made from the BBQ in June will be donated.

Ruth gave a brief report on the past year and mentioned outings arranged for 2014.  The list for the days outing to Tissington Hall and Gardens was circulated.

Ruth thanked all her Committee and especially Michelle Hague, who is giving up for family reasons.  Maureen McDonald has kindly agreed to take Michelle’s place on the Committee.  Ruth mentioned that this, her third year, would be the final one as Leader.

Rosemary Westwood thanked Ruth and the Committee for all their work behind the scenes to make the club such a friendly and successful group.

Once the business was over we again enjoyed cheese and

wine and plenty of chat!

The next meeting will be in the parish room 7.30pm on April 2nd, the speaker being Abigail Ashley.
