Newbold Women’s Group AGM
We had received 8 apologies from members, prior to the meeting and these mostly due to illness, so were a little concerned at just how many ladies would be joining us. However, we still had 16 in attendance on the night, which was great to see.
The Minutes of the last AGM held on Wednesday 6 March 2024 were read out as was the Treasurer’s Report, both of which were approved and seconded. Due to rising costs for visiting Speakers, the attendance at meetings was to be increased to £3, to also help towards the hire of the Parish Room.
The General Report for the year, reminded us of last years’ visiting Speakers, a visit to Renishaw Gardens in June, the ‘Annual Meal Out’ in November, and the Christmas Celebrations in December, at which both Rev Rhoda and Rev Malcolm joined us. In addition, the Group hosted the Church Coffee Morning in August.
The Committee is to remain the same namely: Trish L, Janet McG, Marilyn J, Kath J and Wendy D, although we had been hopeful in getting at least one other lady to join us.
All members had been e-mailed a copy of this next years’ Programme, prior to the meeting and with extra copies available on the night. A few suggestions were forthcoming for future trips/visits, still needing to be decided upon, and which will need to be considered before our next meeting in April. It was noted that the Group has agreed to host the Church Coffee Morning in November this year.
A ‘Vote of Thanks’ was received from Jean L, before the meeting closed at 7.50pm, and all were able to enjoy refreshments of Cheese and Wine, provided by the Committee.
Our next meeting is to be held in the Parish Room on Wednesday 2 April at 7pm when Rev Malcolm will be entertaining us with a talk on his ‘Life working on the Railways, with Anecdotes.’ Do invite family and friends along please. The Church Men’s Group have already expressed a wish to join us.
