The Group met on Wednesday 4 December in the Parish Room for our Christmas Celebration Evening. It was wonderful to see somany members and guests – 28 in all – attending, including Rhoda, our Vicar, and Malcolm, our Associate Priest.
Janet had done an excellent job in arranging for members to make or bring the food and drink, also arranging for readers to tell the Christmas story in between the singing of 5 Carols, for which Anne P had again kindly agreed to accompany us on her keyboard. Rhoda opened the evening with a prayer before Trish read us ‘TheAdvent Ring,’ to set the scene for the singing of the Carols, and the readings, after which Rhoda also brought us a Blessing.
Marilyn J had brought along a selection of Christmas songs to provide some background music as together we tucked into a great display of delicious-looking food, so thanks to all for playing your part in proceedings. At this point we also had a Christmas-themed quiz provided by Trish .Lastly, all had been given a raffle ticket on arrival, and the numbers drawn, as in a raffle, for each to choose a ‘Secret Santa’ present of their choice, brought along ready wrapped by each of us.
So ended an enjoyable evening to get us into the Christmas mood– hopefully! As mentioned in the previous report, the Group will not be meeting until Wednesday 5 February, when a speaker from ‘Aquabox’ will be giving us a rundown on how their company provides clean water and humanitarian aid in times of crisis.
Wishing all a Happy and Healthy New Year.
