The group did not meet at the beginning of July. Instead, a good number had a ‘day out’ at Boundary Mill near Rotherham on 28 June, which was organised by Margaret F.
I enjoyed the day, not having ventured to that area before, and, it would appear that others did as well, judging by the fuller bags that each was carrying back to the coach as we headed for home.
We do not meet in August with so many going on holiday at that time, so our next meeting will be on Wednesday 6 September, when the speaker will be Anna-Louise Pickering talking about her travels with her mother, the late Pollyanna Pickering the wildlife artist and conservationist.
Future speakers include Alva de Chiro, a local lady, talking about her Italian family whom she married into.
A meal out is arranged for November, followed by a Christmas Celebration in December.
Next year’s programme will include a talk by Jim Dickinson about his career working with ‘old’ maps, Robyn Riggins speaking about WORTH, an organisation helping women after they have suffered abuse, followed by the AGM in March.
Everyone is welcome to come along and join us when we meet in the Parish Room at 7pm on the first Wednesday of the month. The cost is just £2 each evening to include a ticket for the raffle and refreshments of tea/coffee and biscuits.
Do speak to either Trish, Marilyn J, or myself if you would like to know more. We are a friendly bunch, and it would be great to have more join us each month.
