Newbold Women’s Group March 2018

THE WOMEN’S GROUP ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Twenty-six members met on March 7th for our AGM which was led by the Secretary, Jean Lee who reported on a successful year, especially as several new members have been welcomed into the group. A recap was made of the varied programme of events held throughout the year and the fact that we are keen to welcome more ladies to join us.

Pat Law, our Treasurer, presented the accounts and gave her report and again was pleased to record a successful year, highlighting the fact that we raised £140 for the Good News Family Care based at Buxton which was our nominated charity for the year.
Maureen Macdonald and Marion Robertshaw stood down from our committee and we were pleased that Anne Lee and Diane Badger volunteered to replace them. After the AGM next March Jean Lee (Secretary) and June Shaw have indicated that they wish to stand down from the committee and we hope that they too can be replaced.

The members were given a detailed programme of events planned by the committee for the next year which was enthusiastically received and was chatted about whilst enjoying the cheese and wine that followed the AGM.

Our next meeting is on Wednesday May 2nd at 7pm in the Parish Room when we will be entertained by “Three Talented Ladies.” First of all Ruth Cable will demonstrate meringue making, with samples of “some made earlier” which will be followed by Christine Wieloch talking and showing examples of patchwork making and then by Beryl Malcolm who will show examples of how she makes lace.

We do hope that any ladies who are not members of the group but are interested in these skills will join us for what should prove to be a very interesting and enjoyable evening.

Jean Lee (Secretary)
