WALKING GROUP – Treasure Hunt
Our walk was a little different this month as we combined it with a Treasure Hunt in the area of Queen’s Park. With our list of clues, we walked along Boythorpe Avenue and entered the park, where the business of finding the answers began. We were blessed with a sunny, mild day so were able to stroll along, admiring the flower beds, the geese with goslings walking in line and at one point, eating a welcome ice cream whilst sitting on a bench enjoying a rest. With the detective work done to our satisfaction, we perched ourselves on benches in front of the pavilion and were able to watch the closing strokes of the cricket match taking place on the pitch as we ate our sandwiches. There was the usual heckling as the answers were called out but on the whole it was all taken in good spirit and the winners of the bottle of wine were Julie and Steve.
Our next walk on Sunday 2nd July will be in the area of Shilito Wood, a 5 mile walk led by Trish Law. We will be meeting outside the church gates at 4pm with our packed tea and walking gear before piling into two of the cars and driving to our destination. We would be pleased to welcome any new members, just turn up or for more information contact anyone on the reverse of this magazine.
