NEWBOLD WOMEN’S GROUP ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
We held our AGM on Wednesday 1st March in the Parish Room when 24 members attended. As Secretary I gave my report which mentioned the very varied activities we had enjoyed during the year. One of our most heartwarming talks we had had was from a representative from Good News Family Care, a Christian charity based in Buxton, that aims to help vulnerable families affected by addiction and drug dependency. At this meeting we all agreed to make this charity the one we will fundraise for during the year. The existing committee have all agreed to remain for the next year but as one member has indicated her wish to stand down at next year’s AGM we will be looking for a volunteer to join the committee in her place. Pat Law, our treasurer gave her report and like me, she acknowledged that although the group has welcomed a few new members this year we do feel that we all need to try to encourage more new members to join us, as we have lost some members recently through infirmity or moving away from the area. Members were given the programme for the next year and I told the group of our proposed outing in July to the Hope House costume museum in Alstonefield.
Our next meeting is on April 5th at 7pm in the Parish Room when Tracey Oldfield (Chameleon Wool Shop on Chatsworth Road) will demonstrate various ways of scarf tying. Members are asked to bring along a rectangular scarf and a square one as well as any others that we struggle with! Our meeting concluded with cheese and wine.
Jean Lee (Secretary) Committee members are Pat Law (Treasurer) Maureen McDonald, Mavis Chambers, Marion Robertshaw and June Shaw.
