MOTHERS’ UNION
Our February meeting was held in the Parish Room. There were six members present and one apology. Mrs Anne Hartley, branch leader, said prayers and we remembered Mrs Annette Angus, who has recently had a bad fall. We all joined in to say the Mothers’ Union prayer. Following the business, dates were given out for future services.
Women’s World Day of Prayer, Friday 3rd March at 1.30pm here in St. John’s Church.
The Lady Day Service (Feast of the Annunciation), will be on Friday 24th March in St. Giles Church, Matlock at 2pm. There may be a bus arranged by the Deanery for this.
A Diocesan Festival will be held on Friday 23rd June at St. Helen’s Church, Darley Dale. This will be in the evening and again a bus may be arranged.
We then welcomed Ben our Rector. As requested he spoke of his life in a band as a drummer, the fastest in the country, prior to his calling to enter the Ministry. He had travelled extensively and many questions were asked over tea and cakes. Ben drew the raffle for us and the winners were Margaret Beasley and Maureen Ashton.
There is no meeting in March and the next one will be on 12th April
2pm in church to start with, as Stuart Watkinson, our organist will give us a recital. Everyone is welcome to join us.
