Newbold Women’s Group July 2026

As has been the norm in recent years, the Group has been having a day out at the end of June in place of a July meeting, which clashes with another daytime meeting for a number of ladies. This year the Group had booked a day’s visit to Cromford Mills with a 2-hour afternoon trip on the canal. However, the date happened this year to fall on one of the hottest days of the recent heatwave, which prompted the Committee to rethink the visit, given that the heat might affect a good number of ladies. Instead, it was decided to meet in the evening on the first Wednesday in July as an extra get together before the Group takes a summer break in August.

It was a chance to have a general catch up, and Trish had put together a quiz which got us ladies having to put on our thinking caps and dig deep into our memories! Saying that, it was all very light-hearted and enjoyable.

As mentioned in the last edition of The Evangelist, our next meeting will take place on Wednesday 2 September, when the Group will again welcome Anna-Louise Pickering giving us a talk entitled ‘The Art of Saving Lions’. She is a very popular and interesting speaker, and it would be good to see new people joining us. We meet in the Parish Room at 7pm and, if you wish to know more, do have a word with Trish, Marilyn J. or myself. The charge for the evening will be £3 to cover the cost of the hire of the room, refreshments of tea/coffee, biscuits and a raffle prize.

Wishing you all an enjoyable summer break.
Wendy Drake
