WOMEN’S GROUP ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
March 2nd 2016
Beryl Malcolm welcomed 21 members and led the group in prayer. As Secretary I gave a report of our activities during the past year. The group has had an interesting programme of events beginning with a very successful Easter Bonnet competition and quiz, a variety of speakers, a flower arranging demonstration, a musical evening, a strawberry tea, lunch at Hackney House and an outing to the Dukeries Garden Centre.
Our Treasurer, Pat Law presented the accounts and told us that £135 had been donated to the Derbyshire, Leics and Rutland Air Ambulance which was our nominated charity for the year. Both Pat and I agreed that although the group has had a successful year we are concerned that because of illness, infirmity and moving from the area our numbers have dropped and in order for the group to continue we do need to welcome new members. Our group is open to all ladies from any or no faith and more information about our group, which meets on the first Wednesday of each month, can be had from Pat or myself.
A presentation and thanks were given to Beryl Malcolm who, after many years has stepped down from the committee and her invaluable contributions will be sorely missed. However, we are pleased to welcome Carole Kitchener and June Shaw who have volunteered to join our planning committee.
Our programme of events for the coming year was given to all members present, beginning with a presentation by Hasland Theatre group on Wednesday 6th April at 7.00 p.m. in the Parish Room. All ladies are welcome to join us.
