Five members of Newbold Mothers Union were present for Christmas sherry and mince pies, on 10th December at Ruth’s house.
A roaring log fire helped to combat the December chill outside as members chatted and exchanged Christmas cards. Ruth gave out three apologies and get-well cards were signed for Anne Hartley and Edna Hayward, who are both unwell at home.
The magazines, ‘Roots & Branches’ and ‘Families First’ were distributed and those who lived at Pembroke Court took their neighbours post.
Ruth explained that the committee had decided to invite the other M.U. branches in our Deanery, Wingerworth, Loundsley Green and Dronfield, to our February meeting, when we have an especially interesting talk by Barbara Wallace, last year’s Lady Mayoress of Chesterfield. Ruth had received replies from Loundsley Green and Dronfield.
Ruth wished all a very happy Christmas and everyone left before darkness fell.
