The November meeting took place in St. John’s Parish Room, with seven members attending and three apologies given.
Mrs Ruth Cable led the prayers and welcomed everyone including the speaker, Mrs Jean Anderson, Chesterfield Deanery President.
Mrs Anne Hartley gave out the notices and a reminder to everyone that they were invited to join the Women’s Group for their Carol Service and Christmas Party, at 7.30pm in church on Wednesday 3rd December.
There will be no meeting in January, but in February there will be a very interesting talk by last year’s Lady Mayoress, Barbara Wallace, about “Nenna Kind”, a group she has founded to support cancer research. Invitations to this will be sent to other Mothers Union groups in the Chesterfield Deanery.
Mrs. Anderson gave a very informative talk on the work of the Mothers Union. The usual Christmas sherry and mince pies will be served on December 10th at Ruth’s house, at an informal meeting at 2pm. Please try to support this as we can exchange Christmas cards and news. A raffle will be held.
A reminder to those who have not paid their subscriptions of £19.50. Please let our treasurer, Margaret Beasley, have it by the end of December if you wish to continue as a M.U. member. Many thanks and a very happy Christmas to everyone.
Ruth Cable (Committee Member)
