After a summer break in August, we commenced in September with a celebration of Holy Communion in the Lady Chapel, the Celebrant being Fr. Nigel followed by the AGM in the parish room.
Anne Hartley welcomed the members and stated it was good to have Mrs. Iris Gill with us again. During the meeting Fr. Nigel spoke of how the year had been a reflective one and of how the number 100 kept appearing – World War One, the formation of the Newbold Branch of the MU and of Mrs. Eleanor Shaw being 104 years old. The Rector stated that it was hard to think ahead as the world was changing so quickly now to what it was 100 years ago. He recalled that the ladies who founded the Mothers Union in Newbold would have found it hard to believe what it might have been like 100 years into the future but he had no doubt that Faith would be there 100 years from now.
Anne Hartley thanked Fr. Nigel on behalf of everyone for his support during the past year and thanks were also expressed to Ruth Cable (Secretary) and Margaret Beasley (Treasurer) for their work during the past year. Special thanks to all the members, for without them there
would be no Newbold branch.
A report was given on the past year’s activities and the new programmes for meetings during 2014 – 2015.
The next meeting will be held on Wednesday 8th October 2014.
