NEWBOLD WOMEN’S GROUP
Ruth welcomed members to a very stormy evening, with the wind whistling around the parish room, on February 5th. She wished everyone a very happy New Year, as we had not met in January.
Members were given some information about the proposed visit to Tissington Hall and Gardens on 2nd July. Numbers will be taken at the March meeting on 5th – the A.G.M.
We had received notice of two shows to be staged at the Pomegranate Theatre in town – “South Pacific” and “The Wizard of Oz”. Ruth could obtain tickets from Mike Spriggs who is directly involved with the events.
Our speaker was Mr. Norman Crowson from Dronfield. Norman showed us lovely slides of birds and other wildlife, which we can tempt into our gardens. His knowledge of nature and wildlife was excellent and we enjoyed a very pleasant evening.
Ruth explained that we have been able to keep our subscriptions at £7 for the next year, and will continue paying £1 on entry, for tea and a raffle ticket. Next year’s programme will be available next month, as members pay their subscriptions for 2014. As usual there will be cheese, biscuits and wine/fruit juice at our A.G.M. Let us hope for calmer weather on Ash Wednesday!
