NEWBOLD WOMEN’S GROUP
Wednesday 7th May
Ruth welcomed a pretty full parish room of members. Prayers were said and those who are sick or in homes were remembered.
The lists went round for the trips to Buxton to see Fr. Keith and his churches, and the day’s outing to Tissington. Food for the BBQ next month, was also arranged.
After the business, Ruth introduced our speaker, Mr. Paul Beard, a magistrate. He talked about his work in the courts and then sent round a light hearted quiz, to test our understanding and knowledge of what magistrates actually do, who can become one and what qualifications are needed. It was an amusing and instructive evening and Paul was thanked by Ruth, after he had answered quite a few questions. He kindly drew the raffle for us and this was won by Christine Wielock. Tea and biscuits were served. The next meeting will be held on Wednesday 4th June – the BBQ in Ruth’s garden at 7pm.
