On 4th December we held our Carol Service in church, with Ben kindly leading the prayers and Stuart playing the organ, again entertaining us with a lovely medley of Christmas music, so our thanks to both of them. Several members gave the readings, reminding us of what Christmas is actually about in the telling of the original story.
We then continued the evening in the Parish Room, with delicious refreshments, to which everyone had contributed. Mavis again provided the music and a quiz, the first part being to identify pantomime characters from just the consonants in their name, some proved quite tricky. The second part was to name people, places and things which all had a connection with Christmas in their name, again some were challenging, but added to the enjoyment of the evening.
There will not be a meeting in January, as New Year’s Day falls on a Wednesday, so the next meeting will be on Wednesday, 5th February 2020, when Steve Franks will give a presentation on Barcelona, with particular reference to La Sagrada Familia, the unfinished but spectacular cathedral.
