Mother’s Union Meeting December 2015
Members of the Mothers Union enjoyed the Carol Service and following party on 2nd December, having been kindly invited by the Newbold Women’s Group. The Carol Service was lovely and the party food excellent, as usual. Thank you to the Committee for hosting a great evening.
On 9th December, seven M.U. members joined Ruth at her home, ‘The Spinney’, for the traditional sherry and mince pies, at their December meeting.
A roaring open fire and Croft Sherry certainly helped members to relax and enjoy the afternoon.
Ruth gave out the questionnaires from M.U. H.Q., this is to try to ascertain how to increase M.U. membership and to ask members what suggestions they have for publicising the group more. The ‘Families First’ and ‘Roots and Branches’ magazines were given out, and membership subscriptions of £20.50 per person collected by the treasurer, Margaret Beasley. A new member, Mrs Annette Angus, who has moved from Scotland to live in Pembroke Court has been welcomed into the group.
The raffle was drawn and Ann Whitehead won first prize, a box of Christmas Crackers. Cups of tea were later served, with mince pies before members departed around 5pm.
There is no January M.U. meeting. We next meet on 10th February, which falls on Ash Wednesday and Jim Dickinson will be our speaker.
We wish everyone a very happy Christmas and a peaceful and healthy new year.
Ruth Cable
