WALKING GROUP
September’s walk was through two of Derbyshire’s prettiest villages. Starting from the plague village of Eyam (pronounced ‘eem’), we followed a country lane to the charming village of Foolow.
As we approached the Bulls Head we noticed that all available seating outside had been taken so we sat on the memorial steps beside the picturesque duck pond to eat our lunch. The ducks are obviously well fed as they ignored our offer of bread. Walking back through the fields and into little Linen Dale, the views were impressive.
Perhaps it was because Strictly Come Dancing is back on the TV, or perhaps it was the sun and blue skies that went to her head, but one of our group detached herself with open arms to dance and sing ‘The hills are alive….’.
