NEWBOLD WOMEN’S GROUP
Leader Ruth Cable welcomed members to the September meeting in the parish room. After prayers in which members who were poorly were mentioned, Ruth introduced a guest from Norwich.
Menus for the meal on October 1st at 7pm at Chesters Restaurant on Sheffield Road, were handed out and Ruth reminded those present that she would not be standing for leadership again next year. The ladies were asked to consider taking this job on. It was also mentioned that in March, at the AGM, receipts would be issued for the 2015 subscriptions.
Business concluded, Ruth then introduced our speaker Rev. Dr. Joscelyn Lewis who gave us a fascinating talk on her days at Durham University, how she came to be a vicar, and all things in between. You could have heard a pin drop in the room. Joscelyn is now retired but still ‘helps out’ when local clergy are away. We were all very well entertained and questions were welcomed at the end.
The raffle was won by Pat Mason, tea and biscuits served by Rosemary Westwood and Ann Whitehead.
