As Women’s World Day of Prayer was on 7th March and Lady Day services held on 25th, Newbold did not have a meeting that month. However, we were delighted to attend Melbourne M.U. centenary celebratory service at St. Mary’s & St. Michael’s Church, on 25th March.
Eight members of our M.U. travelled by coach, together with members from Loundsley Green, stopping en route for lunch at Swarkstone garden centre.
The Bishop of Repton, the Rt. Revd. Humphrey Southern, officiated and gave the sermon. Ross Bell, Branch Leader of Melbourne M.U. read the prayers. The collection was for the M.U. Overseas Fund.
Following the well attended service, refreshments in the form of bucks fizz or fruit juices and birthday cake in the M.U. colours of blue and white, were served. We all arrived back at St. John’s by 5.30pm.
