Newbold M.U. April meeting took place in the parish room on 7th.
There were ten members present and Anne Hartley welcomed everyone and led the prayers.
Apologies had been received from Ann Whitehead, Ann Moseley, Ethel Godber and Edna Haywood. Reminders were given about the lunch next month, which will take place in the parish room. This will form part of our centenary celebration.
The trip to Buxton, to see Fr. Keith and his churches is proving very popular. Those present paid their money to Ruth.
Ann introduced our speaker, Stephanie Parkes. Stephanie gave us a fascinating talk about her four yours living in Tobago, when her husband was a clergyman there. With her two young children and very little money, life was not always easy but with lizards, frogs, the odd snake around, and wonderful support from the parishioners and a very strong Mothers Union membership, she was always busy. Questions were asked and the afternoon ended with tea and biscuits. Iris Wright was the lucky raffle winner.
