MOTHERS’ UNION
Ruth and Anne welcomed 9 ladies to the November meeting on 13th, in the parish room. After the business and prayers, we welcomed Rev. Dr. Joscelyn Lewis, a retired vicar. She gave us all an in depth explanation of her stole, which was made for her by a friend. She had wanted something which reflected herself as a person and her insight into how God operates and affects all our lives. Members were initially invited to guess what each picture was, before Joscelyn gave its explanation.
A most pleasant and interesting 45 minutes ensued after which we all enjoyed tea and biscuits served by Anne, Maureen Ashton and Ruth. The raffle was won by Maureen Ashton. M.U. Christmas brochures were given out and the treasurer, Margaret Beasley, collected in subscriptions for next year – £19 per head.
Members were reminded of the forthcoming sherry and mince pies at Ruth’s house, on December 11th, 2 – 4pm. Also that we were once again invited by the Women’s Group to join in their Carol Service and Party on December 4th, 7.30pm in church.
