MOTHERS UNION
Twenty four members and their guests enjoyed an afternoon trip to St. Peter’s Church, Edensor, followed by tea at the Old Post Office there.
On arrival at the church, the coach took us to the side entrance, thus avoiding the steps at the front. The churchwardens, Mr and Mrs Jackson had put out ramps to make the wheelchair members journey easier. We assembled in the church, whilst we were given a short talk on the special items, which we might like to look at. Then we all walked round at our own pace and some explored the churchyard – the space for Deborah the Dowager Duchess is clear, under her husband ! At 3pm we met for tea in the Old Post Office and had a lovely assortment of sandwiches on white and brown bread, fresh scones with cream and jam, and cakes, accompanied by lots of tea!
We were all safely back in Newbold for 5pm, after a very pleasant afternoon out.
Members were reminded about the 100 year celebrations and strawberry tea at Wingerworth M.U. on July 5th.
The next M.U. meeting will be on July 10th at Ruth’s home and will be a strawberry tea, outside if the weather permits.
