Mrs. Anne Hartley welcomed 11 members to the November meeting, on 14th, which was preceded by Mass, given by Fr. Keith. Members were told of Mrs. Doreen Hurst’s move, from the Parkside flats, to Heather Vale Care Home, in Hasland. A card had been sent to Doreen and it was hoped that she could be included in our social events, when her health allowed.
Members were reminded of the invitation to join the Women’s Group, for their Carol Service and Party, in the church,7.30pm on Wednesday 5th December. Also that the December meeting would be an informal “sherry and mince pies”, on Wednesday 12th December, 2pm at Ruth’s home, ‘The Spinney’.
Mrs Hartley took some members who had been unable to attend the dedication Service, on 7th December, through to the church to view the new banner. A plaque alongside it, also states the dates during which Mrs Dorothy Blanksby, served as Secretary and then as Enrolling Member of our branch. Over thirty years in all, a wonderful achievement.
Our speaker was Fr. Keith, who continued to recall his adventures in theHoly Land, whilst on a pilgrimage two years ago. We concluded our meeting with tea and biscuits and everyone was home by dark.
The Mother’s Union committee, Mrs. Anne Hartley, Miss Margaret Beasley, Mrs Maureen Holmes and I, wish all members a happy, peaceful and blessed Christmas.
