Mother’s Union November 2012

MOTHERS’ UNION

The coffee morning in October was hosted by the M.U. and raised a sum of £157 for the Banner Project.  Thank you to all members who donated raffle prizes and cakes and to all those members who helped during the morning.

On Sunday 7th October ‘Dedication Sunday’, the new M.U. banner was blessed and now hangs in the cabinet on the wall outside the vestry, in memory of Dorothy Blanksby.  Thanks to Vic Blanksby and all the family for their significant contribution to this project, it is greatly appreciated.  A total of £315 has now been raised by members towards the cost.

Diocesan Conference, 16th October

The conference was held at the Winding Wheel attended by the Mayor and Mayoress of Chesterfield and took the form of Rwanda Market with every Deanery providing a stall.  The income from this event will be donated to the Bishop’s Harvest Appeal.  During the morning there were two speakers.  Mrs Sue Wilson spoke of her visit to Rwanda and also on the success of the M.U. Parenting Programme in that country.  Mr David Rawson, a representative from Water Aid demonstrated how the water purification equipment worked, facilitating an immediate supply of clean water.  He also demonstrated the Aqua Box which holds up to 62 items, such as small toys or nails, all of which would be put to good use in the villages in Rwanda.

10th October Meeting

The committee apologise for this meeting being cancelled due to two of the members being away from Chesterfield on that day.

The next meeting will take place on 14th November in the parish room at 2.15pm when Fr. Keith will continue the talk about his travels in the Holy Land.
