The July meeting was attended by 14 members and guests, Juliet Hemingray, (from Church Textiles, Derby), Fr. Nigel, and Fr. Keith and Adrian Blanksby. Juliet showed us all examples of her work. This included banners, with different designs and costs. Discussion took place as regards a pattern and wording for the banner. Lt was agreed to incorporate an eagle on the design, as being the symbol of St. John. Mr. Victor Blanksby and his family have most kindly agreed to fund the main expense of the banner, in loving memory of Dorothy, who was Enrolling Member of Newbold Mother’s Union for over 20 years. It is hoped that the banner will be complete in time for the Dedication Service on October 7th.
Scrumptious scones, with strawberries and cream, had been made by Mrs. Anne Hartley and were much enjoyed by all. A special raffle was held which made approx. £80 towards the Banner fund.
There will be no August meeting as the committee meet to prepare next years programme. The A.G.M. is on September 12th, commencing with Mass in the Lady Chapel at 2.0pm
The Mother’s Union are hosting the coffee morning on Saturday October 6th in the Parish Room. All proceeds will go to the banner fund.
