Organist and Choirmaster
Stuart joined the choir at the age of nine in 1952 and became organist in 1989. He is a lifelong member of the Royal School of Church Music and holds the Bishop’s Badge award for lifetime services to the music of the Anglican church.
Stuart is married to Elizabeth and they celebrated their Golden Wedding in 2018 – they both retired after being Primary headteachers, though Stuart was the Derbyshire Schools’ IT Liaison Officer for the last ten years before retirement.
He was a member of British Mensa for forty years, is currently a principal member of Chesterfield Model Engineers and since 2011 has been the house pianist at Chatsworth.
Their two daughters are both in medicine, Sally being a consultant obstetrician/gynaecologist in London and Susan being the Global Scientific Training Director for an International Pharmaceuticals company.
