Gathering outside church, Steve was asked if he had his coat, hat and gloves (see January issue) and wearily answered that he had. Various people must have reminded him.
We decided to drive to the Teversal Visitor Centre and begin our walk down the Teversal Trail towards Pleasley Pit, onto the Skegby Trail and finish on the Link Trail which would lead us back to the Visitor Centre. At this time of year we are aware of the shortness of the day and the number of water-logged fields and muddy paths, so a hard-surfaced track is ideal but can be tiring on the legs.
The weather was drizzly and with no wildlife to see, we spent much of the time chattering. We encountered plenty of dog walkers and it was mentioned that the next time we walk we ought to notice how many types of canine we meet. Some of the walk was in reverse of the way we took last month, but it mainly consisted of a long track bordered by bare trees and ditches alongside, filled with rain water.
We saw no stately homes, no ponds, and no cows, although Julie spotted a lovely display of catkins and took a photo. Nevertheless, we all enjoyed the exercise and will meet again outside church for the next walk on Sunday 3rd March with a packed lunch and shower-proof jackets and welcome anyone else who wants to join us.
