Newbold Women’s Group
Newbold Women’s Group is a social group that welcomes women from any faith (or none) for the purpose of friendship and stimulation. The meetings are held on the first Wednesday of the month at 7:00pm.
These include having a wide range of speakers for some of the meetings as well as outings, meals out, quizzes and holding fund raising events.
In December we hold a Carol Service in church, planned by members, which is followed by a Christmas Party in the Parish Room.
Each March we hold the Annual General Meeting when the committee are elected for the following year. At this meeting members are given details of the planned events for the coming year as well as voting for the charity to support for the next twelve months.
Any additional information can be given by emailing the Church or calling into Church on a Saturday morning.
NEWBOLD WOMEN’S GROUP DECEMBER 2018
THE WOMEN’S GROUP CAROL SERVICE AND CHRISTMAS PARTY
Our annual Christmas celebrations were held on Wednesday 5th December. The Carol Service was held in Church and we were very grateful to Heather for leading our service as the Rector was ill, and to Adrian and Steve for ensuring that the temporary heaters were switched on. As usual Stuart played for the service and we all enjoyed his Christmas medley of seasonal tunes.
Lessons were read by five members and we also welcomed two guests, Marilyn and Sheila to our group.
After the service we adjourned to the Parish Room where we enjoyed a delicious buffet supper provided by the members and organised by the committee. The evening concluded with a light hearted quiz on television programmes and when the answers were disclosed there were lots of groans at “obvious” titles! The winning team of Pat, Mavis, Claire and Anne received a small prize each.
Our next meeting is on Wednesday 6th February at 7pm in the Parish Room when we welcome back the Leader Brothers with another Magic Box of unusual everyday artefacts for us to try and identify.
